"Mountain" is called "bundok" in the Philippines so I guess that's where it came from.

The term boondocks came from the Filipino (Tagalog). Boondocks means rough, remote, or isolated country.

THe term/word is originally from the Philippines.... the meaning of that word is "people from the mountains"....... so i think this word/term came from the Philippines....
