Hi Joreintal the Jap, i know your english is fantastic but i really do not think this is a stupid question coz my objective is to see how pple view matters like this. From your response i can conclude that you are rather simplistic in your perception and tend to miss the bigger picture of everything. But nevermind, there are many others out there like you. Cheers!

Joriental pls do not post as if u know everything about Singapore and curse LKY. You know nothing about ethnic relations in SGP n so i suggest u zip it regarding the issue. I also wonder the source of ur worries regarding SGP's future, in case u jump to conclusions again, i assure you it is in good hands. N pls dont lecture me on East Asian history, with your good grasp of the facts, im surprised at the shallowness of your understanding and judgement on these stuff.

Who cares?
I agree that 80% of the time generalizing a race will work but that's if you're trying to survive. ie: Not get jacked, in business deals, research and marketing etc.
When it comes to having personal relationships, then you trust your friends.
Not a race or a background.
And dude, don't go using racial slurs so easily.
It kills your character and class.
Of course if you've posted this question just to talk crap about a certain race then by all means please post it like the other retards and say what you truly want to say. At least those retards are manly enough to say their true opinion.

Joriental seems like a nice enough guy to me!
When you talk about "trust" I assume you are referring to historical accounts. . . ?
I think BOTH countries gloss over quite a bit re their OWN past actions. In the Chinese version Japanese atrocities are accurated portrayed. In the Japanese version Chinese atrocities are accurated portrayed. But both deny (at least to some extent)heinous actions by their own govt's.
Should Japanese textbooks teach kids about Japanese atrocities? I think not. It's better to say very little or nothing, bc the truth is so outlandishly grotesque. It's not fit for the minds of children. Of course the books should not lie either. I think most young people in Japan (20+) are well aware of the truth and annoyed that the old school keeps denying it. They have easy access to accurate info if they want to educate themselves.
As Joriental said, Japanese war criminals WERE tried and executed following WWII. And Japan DID afterwards pay large sums of money to China. Does money make it all okay? No, but what exactly DOES China want is the question most Japanese people ask themselves. Japanese people also think that the Chinese govt keeps fanning the anti-Japanese fire in order to shift attention away from itself. Now that many people in China have access to the internet, foreign books, foreign movies, etc it won't take long for them to find out about the atrocities committed by their own govt.
And what about the Yasukuni Shrine? Was there ever such a tempest in a teapot???? Some better minds in China have said, Let's forget about the silly shrine. Who cares if the Prime Minister walks inside or not? If a mouse wants to kick a grain of sand at an elephant SO WHAT??
The truth is that all wars suck! Lots of innocent people get killed. Every govt makes mistakes. If we accept each other as individuals and refuse to believe the HYPE then maybe we can make this world a better place.

You can not trust either in general, you have to trust them based on the individual. Theres bad a good ones in both races. Its like saying how can we trust americans. You can not trust a government even if they say it is run by the people in other countrys. Alot of Japanese that I know are laid back and nice and so with the chinese people I know. Its the indivudal not the whole group. Alls it takes is the wrong person to do something untrustworth and it makes them all look bad when mostly they are very caring people.

Both.
But I don't trust Chinese government.
Hey, read this sentence youself . Don't you think your posting is poor? It (the way of writting sentence) is pity itself.
You better post and ask in the China category as well. I know you can get more satisficing answers.
But probably you won't. Cos I know you are Chinese heritage. I should say, you are an immigrant from the mainland Chinese. Not 100% singaporian.
When I lived in China, most Chinese in the rural area were pure and kind. But a portion of people in the city, especially the guys who always try to argue, had a tendency to compare Japan and China.
Asking and posting this kind of question is seen you don't have certain confidence as you are.
Have and build a confidence more.
Regarding to another posting of you, Japan had already judged by the international court. And if you are really Singaporean, I mean if you are not naturalized Sg PR from mainland Chinese, you should know Japan helped most Asian nations with ODA and sending human resorces after WW2 a lot.

Lee KwanYew know it.
If you are from the mainland China, read history and political books sold in Singapore. You will know real history which Western nations write. And You will also find how barbarous Chinese govenment were against their citizens after WW2.
As for Singapore. It is one of my favorite country. And I worry about the future after Lee KwanYew died. As you know many Chinese-Singaporian worries racial conflict after his death.
I think he shouldn't change the immigrant policy this year. It is too easy to get Sg passport today, I know the low birth rate in there though.
Everybody can have the right to say anything. Your conclusion is yours, mine is mine.
I would say animosity create nothing.
Good luck to your nation and your life.

Now I am sure you are Chinese.
And I don't do lecture. Sorry, my gf is SIngaporean lah~~ *laugh*

Japan.... We (US) is plenty extra nearer to Japan as an industrialized, capitalism-pushed u . s . a .. Many factors of China nonetheless have low high quality residing and an embarrassing inhabitants without etiquette. authentic federal officers of China thieve the chinese language populations' taxes and deliver their family individuals to the U. S./Canada so they are able to have a extra physically powerful training and residing, like Wen Jiabao.

Neither. The Chinese are in for too many cheap bargains and the Japanese believe in buying only Japanese made products to support their own economy.

Japanese. My host mom and I went into a grocery store. She left her car running, purse in the car and the doors unlocked. We were in the store for a good half hour, and it was still there when we got out.
