I'm a carpenter/landscaper, an artist, athlete and involved in the community.

But when my days are done I want it said that my biggest achievement in society is that I was a good man, honest, loved those in my life and had little to look back on in regret or embarrassment.

This seems boastful, and I don't mean to be. Regardless: I've raised two boys -- helped literally several hundred people over the years, taught many students (technology and computer science at the college level) and written position papers which may (who knows, I doubt it but maybe) have influenced the internal considerations in one of the great political parties on how to deal with alternative energy. I've written about 50 nationally accredited tournaments for role-playing games through RPGA and was NE regional co-director for 4 years. I have been published in magazines on gaming, journals on theology (once only) and books (40,000 words of "Steel Deep" from Mayfair) I have sat on civic commissions as an appointee of a mayor of the opposing political party. I've represented my parish at the time as a general delegate to the Brooklyn Ecumenical Conclave (now the Brooklyn Industrial Areas Fellowship) when we lived in NYC. I've volunteered for People for the American Way and Americans United. I've raised funds for political candidates and campaigned door to door. I've helped organize and run interfaith vigils, the most recent one for justice for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered youth, cosponsored and hosted by my partner's faith (which is Wiccan).

I can't really pick out of that list, and the other, unshared list, one thing that is best. I think my best trait is loving others, without an expectation of return -- but one achievement? I'm sorry, I can't do it. None of them are going to make me rich or famous, but I intend to keep doing as many of them as I can, as long as I have the breath of life. I hope that sharing them, since you asked, isn't viewed as being horrible -- though to a degree I feel it is. If so I apologize for not being humble enough to you and to the whole board.

Kind thoughts,

Reynolds

I've always imagined writing a book featuring a positive gay character in its story would be rewarding. It would place the idea of gay people amongst heterosexuals in a non confrontational way as a strategy to usualize homosexuals in modern society. Many shows and movies have done this quite tactfully-Sweet Home Alabama comes to mind.

My best achievment is simply being an open, fine, moral (by my own standards) tax paying citizen. In other words, providing an example that contradicts the view that the republicans and religious right has of gay people in general.

It was a privilege to bump into a young gay man who had been totally rejected by his family, thrown out of the army, and despised by his friends.

Emotionally scarred and mentally very unstable; he entered my life a human-wreck.

8 years later, I handed back to society a hard-working, beautiful, confident, smiling 26-year-old with a future.

That was a little bit special!

i don't think that achievements have anything to do with being gay or straight. Many gay people in music, cinema and other professions achieved a great deal by being great in what they do and never associated it with their sexual preference. just be the best and then the world will know that gay people can achieve top

The very best thing I did for society was raise two young women who are intelligent, have excellent values and ethics, are self sufficient and good citizens. That's my legacy, I hope they will pass it on.

What do you mean? What have I actually accomplished, or what would I like to be able to accomplish?
