Spybot Search & Destroy is the best scanner I have seen, and I have seen it run on 700 mhz computers before. I have used it for over 3 years and have only once seen a spyware program stick after a standard scan. It was gone a week later, as more extensive scans were needed to root it out. There has not yet been a spyware app slip by completely.

Did you mean Spysweeper from Webroot? That is a very good
anti-spyware program. The only time your PC would slow down is
when it's in the process of scanning. You might have something else on your computer that's slowing it down. Get at least 2 free programs because no one program can detect all spyware http://www.basicspywaretips.com/getridofspyware.html

The good thing about anti spyware programs is that you can have a good few installed on your pc and they WILL NOT clash with each other. What one will miss another will find. This is not the same case with av progs where you can only have one installed.
I use PEST PATROL
ADAWARE
SPYBOT
and have no probs with spyware, you try the same youll be amazed

Working with a slow computer can be time consuming as programs/ applications take a long time to start. This problem is more pronounced in computers which have been used for 6 or more months. More information at http://fixit.in/slowcomputer.html

Try turning off the active real-time protection in your Webroot Spy Sweeper, one type at a time until you are back up to speed and find the one that is slowing you down.
