Give her yourself for Christmas---spend time with her---tell her you love her----sit with her and look at old picture albums and let her tell you stories about the photos taken.

Your mom needs nothing but YOU!

Most definitely spend time with her ... it's a gift to you both. I'd give my right arm to have my mom back. Perhaps you can get her motivated to get out if you are with her. Is she able to travel?

What are her interests? Most likely she watches a great deal of television ... only you can assess if she needs a newer, larger television, dvd or cd player. Does she have a pet or would she even enjoy a pet?

Do you have any old home movies that have never been tranfered to video/dvd? People in that age bracket are quite sentimental.

Generally speaking, giving a woman her age perfume or clothing is like someone giving you a tie. Not terribly inspired.

My mom's about the same age, so I wrestle with this, too. Things that will make her life in the house more pleasant: photos of you and your family, maybe a new TV, some music on CD she'll enjoy (I got my mom a CD player, but she won't use it...too complex, she says...but she'll listen to the radio that's in it).

Actually, I agree with Aunt Beeaa, above: time with your mother may be more valuable to her than anything.

Hi my mum is 77 and I uses a walking stick. She wants a nice gold chain or pendant this year and I gave her $100 towards it. It depends on what your mum is interested in. Maybe clothes or nighties. She's your mum and devoted her life to you so be generous. Merry Christmas.

Does she like houseplants.

Does she have an animal? Buy something nice for the animal.

Take her to dinner.

What is her hobby? Add to this.
