That history being established I will say that I have never been "caught" secretly killing some one nor have i been around when someone was secretly killed.
In life we all face punishments that seem unfair in their application to us but that does not make them murdrum, it just makes them misdirected and misenforced. We suffer because there is no way of solving a problem, sometimes.
