They will be under the microscope for certain. THe real message behind the Nov. 7th election was not just we are tired of Bush, but that America is fed up with many issues. The democrats promised changes, will they deliver? Is the fear ture about tax increases, will cuts in health care be reversed? Many many isues that took them there, will be watched by millions of voters and make for media grandstanding, and after all the 08 presidentual elections will be directly impacted by the actions or inactions of the new congress

Probably. The Republicans have always enjoyed counterpunching and sniping from the bushes. Likely every Dems hisory and background will be scrutinized for the slightest possible infraction, and the Republicans will seek to capitalize on any tiny indiscretion for political gain. If you recall during Clinton's days, the Republicans were screaming that, above all else, "the rule of law is paramount", that "the President is not above the law", and that military involvement against Bin Laden was "wagging the dog". Once Bush gained office, however, the Republicans seems to abandon these "principles", and instead supported everything Bush did, even though blatantly wrong and probably illegal. Watch for the sudden shift back by the Republicans when Dems take over in January and when a Dem is elected President in 08.

No matter what happens, 100% of Americans will not be happy with their leaders... I don't know about the whole "more Americans scrutinizing", but there will be plenty.

I think they will be watching them even more closely now to see it this new Democratic control can make a difference, especially in the war in Iraq. President Bush still has not backed down in his plan of "stay the course", in spite of world opinion that the civil war in Iraq cannot be won by continued US intervention. It will be very difficult for the Democrats to get legislation that may end US involvement in this conflict sooner past the desk of this obstinate and "infallible" leader.

Nothing new in politics, the Democrats will have a lot of insults and criticisms once they begin their turmoil in Washington.
