I wouldn't let my kids get one until they were 18. I have two and didn't get them until I was in my mid 20s. I wanted one since I was about 15 but I know that I should wait because I may change my mind on what I wanted. You know what? I did change my mind several times and am very happy with what I have now. Waiting wont kill you.

There is no "best way to get your parents to go for it". They are either the type of parents who are okay with it or they're not. Sounds like yours are not. Suck it up and just wait a few years, you're only 14. Tattoos are not worth fighting with your parents about. Anyway, by the time you're 18 you may look back at:
"to the well organized minded, death is but the next great adventure"
and think to yourself, "what an idiot". No offense, not that you're an idiot or that it's a stupid tattoo idea.....I'm just saying that my parents didn't let me get a tattoo when I was a teenager either, so I had to wait until I was 18 and moved out of the house. Even now (i'm 27) I look back at the tattoos I wanted to get when I was in high school and I'm so glad I waited....they were kinda stupid. You're only 14....enjoy being a kid....everything else will come soon enough.

first of all - make sure its spelt correctly!!
"To the well organized MIND..."
secondly at 14, your hand probably isnt the best place to be getting a tattoo.
Im not going to be one of those people that say you shouldnt be getting tattooed at 14, because I got my first tattoo at 16 and I still love it (im now 23)
But you do need to think about positioning and content of tattoos.
At 14, its pretty cool to have a hand tattoo but have a think about what it will look like to future employers. There are very very few jobs that will employ people with visible tattoos (even crappy jobs like mcdonalds wont)
I got my first tattoo low down on my tummy so i could show it off when i wanted but it could remain hidden too.
Backs are great place for that - easy to show off but usually hidden for work
thirdly - how long have you wanted this tattoo for? even now when i come up with a new design I draw it up and keep a copy in my wallet, stuck to my mirror and next to my computer screen for 3 to 6 months before i get it done, to make sure im not bored of it.
Also have a think about the style of writing you want it done in. regular writing can look kinda dull but if its done in a good font, it will look much more spectacular.
finally - really dont know how to persuade your parents, i got my tattoos done without them knowing but... finding a GOOD tattoo artist that will tattoo someone under 18 is very difficult. Crap tattoo artists will tattoo anyone that pays but do you really want a crap tattoo?
hopefully i've given you some things to think about, and decide for yourself whether or not to go ahead with him and if you do one more piece of advice
DONT PICK THE SCABS!!!!!

If I were you I would wait till you are older before you decide to do that. I regret all of my tattoos because I really didn't think before I did it. There is a reason why you need to be 18 to get one. Also it will be very difficult to get a job with that in a visible place. You will definitely regret it when you get older. Just wait till you are 18 and see if you still want it.

First of all, your 14, it is illegal in EVERY state for you to get a tattoo, secondly, hands are very hard to tattoo, as you bend them, the skin wrinkles etc..etc...and the color ends up coming out.
When you turn 16, if you still want a tattoo, think about where you want it that it can be easily hidden. Research places that have liscenes, and are clean and sterile.

First of all your to young to get a tattoo, 14 years old and your thinking about tattoos, shouldn't you be thinking about your school work, you should ask yourself what you want to become when you grow up, do you want to be a person with tattoos all over there body, cause when you get one you always want more.

That's awful. And I hope they wouldn't spell it "mined". I always told my son that if he comes home with a tattoo, I'll cut it off with a steak knife. Don't do this. Tattoos are very trashy and you're always going to be trying to hide it, especially during job interviews.

Convince them that you are going to do something even worse! Maybe they'll go for the tattoo!
