In all of Stephen King's movies, it's always really good until you get to the end and then everything starts blowing up or going crazy. Look at 'IT' for example. They kill the "spider" and start getting "stuff" out of it, which includes a baby? What the crap? And then 'NEEDFUL THINGS' all the houses start getting blown up by the townspeople? There was another one I can't remember, but does anyone else see this pattern?

There is hardly any good movie adaption of S.King, with the exeption of the Shining.

I'd like to add that Bag of Bones fits your criteria. KIng's novels are formulaic but his short story work, non-fiction, and his novellas are, oddly enough, very good.

If you have the chance and can find it somewhere I highly recommend Rage. (King had it pulled off the shelves after a highschool shooting where the attacker had a copy of it in his locker) It's like The Breakfast Club with guns.

BTW in the movie It... the thing they pulled out was the 'spider's' still beating heart.

Try The Green Mile, Stand By Me (yes, believe it or not this was based on a short story of his..The Body I think was the name)and Misery...also, the TV movie Salem's Lot may not be a cinematic classic but it did scare the p*ss out of me! These are all much better.

Ive read most of the books and i prefer to use my imagination cause nothing else is better than to scare yourself late at night all alone reading a book, the movies will never be as good as his books, tommyknockers is kinda dumb and not scary at all. Oh well im glad i know how to read!
