There has always been men of fashion and trendsetters through history. It has only been within the past 60 years or so that it has been perceived differently.

what planet arte you from do you never go to the malls or into the city?
there you'll find oodles in fact it is about even male and females shopping,and trying to keep up with fashion.

Because people like to stereotype, and advertisers like to play up those stereotypes; thus re-inforcing the stereotype. Truly, there are plenty of men who are paying attention to fashion and like to shop for clothes...not just for themselves, but for their wives and girlfriends. Fashion: it's not just for gay men anymore!

i don't consider it to be so, but the men in my life hate to go shopping while the women that i know love it.
i can only base this on what i have observed first hand.
