I think it makes it less believable.

I have to say I thought it was a true story until the green magical dust got involved! Would have been nice just to have a modern 'to kill a mockingbird' type film. With a magical mouse of course.

I sort of haved mixed feelings about it - I did think that the magical element spoilt it a bit, definitely, for a minute it just became a silly movie, even though I really loved it till then, but on the other hand, how good would a plausible, realisitc explanation have been, it probably wouldn't have been such a good book/movie if everything had been explained with hard facts (that would have been mission impossible anyway). I think that on the whole, I would have prefered it if Stephen King had just left us thinking a bit, instead of making it OBVIOUSLY magical (that was what was so brilliant about The Shining as a book - it was sort of open), if he had just left it a little ambiguous, and then we could have believed whatever we wanted to believe. That would have been so much better.

No, the point that they are trying to make in the 'The Green Mile', is that the human spirit is alive and well, even under the most difficult of circumstances. Sometimes, the more difficult life becomes, the more the human spirit has a chance to shine.

You need to make the choice between right and wrong, this story tells how the impact of your choices, may be felt immediately or possibly not for a very long time, but in the end everything catches up to you, and you need to make things right.

"Sometimes, miracles happen in the most unexpected places."

no the magic is the story.
if he had none done all the miracles than they would not have realised he was inocent and they film would have just run,

big dude kills kids - walks green mile - dies

the film is a different translation of the gospels if yiou translate it literally and so people are always going to have very vaying views on it.

i love the film and the book

Noooooooo not at all! Its a great film. Surely its good to believe in the possibility of a little magic, i'd hate to think there is nothing "magical" out there, it woiuld make the world seem a little duller!

If you want to see a non-magical version of "The Green Mile" rent "Dead Man Walking."

the whole point of the film was fantasy do you really believe that a prison guard has any fellings of compassion, I feel it was a good film and the magic made it,without that it would not have been very good

No, I've read the book as well. It's my favourite film. The magic is the essense of the story. If you don't like it for that, don't watch it, but I think its brilliant.

No, that's what made the movie such a hit. Einstein said, "When man loses his sense of wonder of the unknown, his candle is snuffed out, he is as good as dead". Life is full of many things we won't be able to explain....movie was great!

I disagree. The prisoner's special powers-or 'magic',as you call it- was the point of the film. It's a great film-well acted, well written.
