Fun way to accumulate extra cash! I have a five gallon jug full of pennies. (About $365) a three gallon jug almost filled with pennies and nickels ($293 I counted them) and several smaller jars with mixed coins. About another $300. It's fun! I suggest you keep moving on to bigger and bigger containers. You don't get any interest but you do get a great conversation piece. I've been doing it since I was a kid and I'll tell you, I've bought a lot of stuff with it. It's also bailed me out more than once when money got tight. Saving should be fun! Everything should be fun!

Change and even paper currency are obsolete, everything is being done with Credit cards/debit cards. In less than 5 years there may not be any coins (except in a museum). Time to plan to get a new hobby.

I saved change everyday since my kids were born. By the time they got out of high school I had saved enough to pay for the first two years of college for each of them.
