Well first I think you need to have similiar tastes/beliefs because a marriage will become difficult if your tastes/beliefs differ too widely. After that comes the ability to compromise. It is tricky but a requirement for any marriage to continue working. Sometimes you have to be okay with learning how to agree to disagree. Trust, respect, and understanding are also all key features! When you have these you've made a sturdy foundation for this relationship. Mix in some laughter, good conversation, and enjoyable sex and I believe you have the formula for a good marriage.
