Hi,
I know how frustrted you must feel. My last period was on the 22nd of October and I still haven't come on! I bought ovulation test kits and tested on days 16 - 20 but the tests showed completely negative for me. Therefore I would recommend that you use a basal themometer and chart your temperature as it will rise when you ovulate. This is what I am planning on doing. Good luck.

Hello there,
As your cycles seem to be quite chaotic, the first thing for you to do is see your doctor about it. Irregular periods can be a sign of numerous problems, some minor, some more serious; or even just a result of stress. Simple blood tests should be done to determine whether your hormones are balanced and your doctor/consultant will be able to advise you based on the results.
Meanwhile, charting your temperature seems like a great idea for you (www.fertilityfriend.com - free online charting, the site automatically detects ovulation which is a big bonus for beginners and those whose temperature is erratic). The only problem with charting is that it cannot predict ovulation, it can only confirm it three days after it happened, so this method is not good for planning ahead. Another cheapish solution is purchasing lots of ovulation prediction kits (LH tests) which you can find on ebay at a reasonable price. I recommend these cheap ones so you can test twice a day, every day of your cycle. As ovulation can occur any time during a cycle, this would be the safest way of catching it. If you do not detect ovulation with these tests, there is still a chance you ovulate. I have not had a positive LH test yet, but my blood tests confirmed that I ovulate.
I could go on forever, so I better post links to two good sites that you might find helpful.
I wish you good luck with the ovulation-hunt and the baby project.

hiya! cheapest method of working out if you are ovulating is by charting your basal body temperature and checking your cervical position and mucous. Your temperature goes up after you have released an egg, and you get clear, egg white type discharge when you are ovulating. It worked for me and i conceived after 6 months of trying with an irregular cycle.
I also bought some ovulation predictor kits off of ebay (similar to home pregnancy tests) which i bought in bulk and were quite cheap compared to others around. You use the tests over 5 days, the bolder/darker the line the closer you are to ovulation (these only work once you have established some form of cycle).

It is usually a matter that puts you ladies at valley of depression and worries. But dont be dismayed. With God on your side and a good medical attention, you will definitely smile.
You can try the temperature scale style. Measure your temperature very early in the morning for 2 to 3 months. The day(s) when you record the highest body temperature is mostly the day you ovulate.
Try to visit a good gynaecologist to guide you in determining your correct cycle. There is a way you can count/mark it on your calender from the time you start menstruating. I guess it is usually between 12-14days from when you start menstruating.

It might just be too early, the same thing happened to me, i waited 2 weeks then took an early test (first response) which was positive. You might just need to drink more water. Your HcG levels (pregnancy hormones) double every two days so yiu should have a definate answer soon. It does also depend on weight too, though, everyone is different. The First Respone Early Tests really work, it detected two of my pregnancies at only 3 weeks.

See if your family planning clinic can provide you with an ovulation thermometer and chart. I used one a few years ago before I had my last child, you take your temperature with a special sensitive thermometer every morning before you even sit up in bed. If used correctly, they are a good indicator of what your body is doing as it shows on the chart as you map it.
