My 4 month old son spits (or even vomits - I'm not sure what exactly that is) a lot. During evening hours he does that every time he's prompted to burp. Some of such spiting are forceful and go in series of 3-4. Could that be because I was praising him ("good boy") since birth every time he'd have a successful burp, so now he tries too hard letting not only the air out but breast milk as well?

It's not the praising, his too young to identify that yet.
It could be that his a guzzler, his drank his milk way to fast and has swallowed lots of air thats all.
Your lucky that he manages to get the air up on his own, some babies scream in pain for hours coz of it.

You should try a colic bottle for him, you may find that he won't swallow so much air, and then stop spitting up so much.
Sainsburys colic bottles, I find are better than the other colic bottle brands out there.

Hope I've been of some help

He no longer spits up. YEAH. i'd truthfully talk over along with his pediatrician. there is likewise something observed as silent reflux and that's what mine had in the beginning up, he in no way spit up or vomited yet he would save turning his head decrease from side to side rapid, it particularly is the reflux arising and demanding his esophogus. Please seek for suggestion out of your healthcare expert because of the fact it would get into worse reflux like projectile vomiting and then he will loose to plenty weight. additionally try changing to Dr. Browns bottles, this facilitates decrease the air it particularly is getting caught in his esophogus. additionally feed him a a million/2 ounce and burp, this additionally will help the poor little guy. do no longer exchange his formulation untill you tried each and every thing. My materials are from Gastrointeroligists and pediatricians. solid luck.

if he would be formula fed, it would be normal. But since he's breastfed - I don't know, ask your doctor. Mine told me breastfed babies don't burp much, some ( including my daughter) very little, sometimes not at all. Seems like your son is not latching properly and is swallowing plenty of air, try different position. Burp him few times during feeding, when he eats hold him almost upright so the air can stay on top (spitting when burping is caused by air bubles traped UNDER milk in his stomach).

This is called posseting and is quite normal. Some babies do it more than others. Its just where they take in air with the milk and so when they burp they bring up some milk as well.As long as he is healthy and putting on weight then its nothing to worry about.

Could be heartburn. Try changing the formula. I changed from NAN Pelargon to Infacare and there was an immediate difference.

praising him.....lol...haha...omg, silly, probably just some reflux. It should be looked at by a doctor if it continues to be a problem. My son had reflux and it was the worst case on record at our hospital. Good Luck

He could very well be allergic to milk. Or he could be lactose intolerant. I would try a different type of milk like soy and see if he has the same reaction to it.

praising him isn't causing this.

Check with your doctor. She may need a different formula. or you might be feeding her too much or too fast. Burp her before you feed her, while you feed her and after you feed him
