He is, but you're clearly not since you can't spell 'genius.'

MJ was an outstanding performer. The genious may have come from associations with Motown and Quincy Jones. For me his best work was Off the Wall. Ever since though, like most so called geniouses, the lad really seems to have lost his way both on and off stage. I think that when you have been on top of your career ladder, you shouldn't try and get higher...coz it's a very quick, long way down and when you hit the bottom, as if that's not bad enough, the very same bunch of people who helped to get you up there are going to sure as hell make sure you don't get back!

I loved 'Bad' and 'Thriller' (and still do) and personally think they are works of musical genius. However, they are tainted for me now because of his personal actions (all the plastic surgery weirdness), the accusations of child abuse and his self promoting, self serving interviews. None of it sits right with me, in my mind I find him repulsive, egotistical and I do believe that there is no smoke without fire, he absolutely should not have young boys sleeping in his room let alone his bed. Maybe he once was a musical genius now he just appears to be a strange old man.

He is a great artist and even better performer, I mean artists to this day are still using samples from his performances and dance moves. It's just his personal life outside of music that is really wacked up.

No

He's very good and has produced some of the best pop music ever, but a genius, probably not!

Not sure he's ever killed any kids though as stated before!

Kind of yeah. Maybe coz he started of really young and he knows the pattern of changes in the musical culture throughout the years.

When he was fresh on the scene and hungry for it yes, but he's just doing it for the money now. He's going the same way as MC Hammer. Bankrupt unfortunetly.

I love his 80's music, but from the 90's onwards his music became crap. I still listen to his older tunes though. He really should have given it up by now though!

Yes, i think he definitely is. He is without a doubt a bit strange with all the surgery etc, but musically, which was your question, I'd say so.

Can you be a genius and then not be one?
Personally I don't think he ever was, just very talented. Lately though, and maybe this is because times have changed, his talents seem a little tarnished.
