My soon to be ex husband realised within 24 hours of me leaving. He promised to change evrything, but I knew that if that was what he really wanted he wouldve done it before I left. He begged me to go back, but I stood my ground! divorce should be finalised in jan 2007! hurrah!

DRUM ROLL PLEASE........
Having lost the "one" haunts us each and every day.
Whether we could have prevented it (broke-up) or it was beyond our control (death.)
We will never forget her and the strain on other relationships will eventually take its toll. Even if the new girl is the best, and the most patient, life with the man becomes undesirable.
If we let it, it will eat at us until we are nothing and fade into an existence where we are a shell of our former self.

Depends how egotistical the man is.. my ex told me I'd be nothing without him when I kicked him out. I've got a high paid job, own a house and I've got our son (the best bit!!) he is on the dole has a horrible, filthy flat and dates some of the most scuzzy looking women you've seen because that's all he can get. It's taken him some time but he know's what he's lost alright!!

I think it can take a while, whether you are female or male, it depends on how much effect of what they have lost has on the person in question. Do they really care or bother to think about what they have lost? If not, then it didnt really mean that much, or something else means more. But at sometime though, EVERYONE reflects on things that have happened to them sometime. Everyone.

Depends on who did the "losing"but it sounds like he left you. I think most men and women do realize they had a good thing .At some point they'll have regrets if they are intelligent enough. Unfortunately by the time that happens, the other person does not care anymore....as in "Too little too late! ".
Sometimes what we want is really not so great. Take good care.

you would think that by leaving him the first time will make him realise what he has to loose or will loose! but in my case it didn't i kept going back time and time again. but he now knows what he has lost because i am now married with kids all in the space of three years.

Of course they do and most realize it when they start searching and find out they isn't anyone like you .As for as how long it takes it different in every case but they tend to realize what they had when its gone and moved on.
