I don't think I'm totally a leader, yet I'm not totally a follower either.
For the most part, the situation at hand and some common sense would determine (for me) which "road" I would take.

It depends upon the job at hand. If the other person knows more than I do about the subject, I'm a follower (although, I prefer to say I'm one who cooperates).
If I know how to complete the task better than the others, I'm usually persuasive enough to convince them of that fact.
Basically, it's not about ego but about the accomplishment of shared goals.
