Are the girls at my university normal?

In high school, every girl I knew wore some form of makeup daily. Even when I go home for the holidays now, everyone back home wears makeup.

Three years ago I came to university, and HARDLY ANYONE wears any makeup at all. Seriously, the girls do not wax their eyebrows, some have moustaches, and they seem to judge girls who do wear makeup. I still wear makeup daily, but that's because I've realized 100% natural is hideous for basically everyone. Yes, my university is "nerdy" as it's top ranked, but are the girls normal or am I weird?

When I first got here 3 years ago, many people made comments about my makeup, but seriously...natural does not work from what I've seen. 'Staches on chicks are pretty nasty.

Many of them also think girls who do wear makeup are "bad students" when in reality the latter do better academically most of the time... What do you think? Are they right in going 100% natural or not?

uh they judge me too...as a "bad student" and wild when in reality i did better than them in the course...that's the truth. First year I was judged frequently by these chicks, and they would make comments to my face.

yes they are NORMAL, and so are you, as well as shallow and self absorbed and JUDGMENTAL.

get over it. why do you care so much if they are normal, you are there for school and to learn something. so are they and not wrapped up in the way they look.

"Normal" is a very subjective sentiment. What's normal for you could be interpreted as an "opposite of normal" by other person.
I have had the same experience at my Univercity- girls with moustaches, unibrows and bad hair.
I think a lot of serious study is not a cause to neglect oneself. In fact it only shows your advantage over them in that you can do both-study hard and look neat doing it while the other girls can only succeed at one thing- studying.
You allways feel better when you're groomed. So as long as you're not overdoing it with the makeup- you'll be allright.
If somebody judges you just because of your makeup- they're shallow people and you shouldn't worry about their opinion anyway.

Look here's the thing, I absolutely love makeup so its hard for me to be objective on this but if you love makeup and it makes you feel better about yourself then by all means wear it. Having said that it seems like you don't feel good about yourself and thats why you feel that eveyone is being critical of you. Have they said that they think you wear too much makeup or are you being self-consciouse cos you stick out amongst them. You should stop thinking about their opinions and focus on what you want to do and by the same token you should not make judgements about them for not wearing makeup.

Personally makeup makes me feel awake and alive and helps me study better, don't know why so its just a personal feeling and there is no normal or abnormal.

Just bear this in mind: guys tend to like girls with no makeup - so they say cos what they really think is no makeup is Bobbi Brown's fall collection which makes you look really natural but is actually concealer, foundation, blusher, lipstick, 3 different eyeshadows, highlighter and mascara!

And taches are not nice on women. just wax them ladies pls.

Is your university in a small town? I grew up in a small town and the only girls who wore makeup were the ones that were considered "fast".

We all wore makeup at prom but that was about it.

When I moved to a large city I was asked why I didn't wear makeup and now I do sometimes. But my husband truly prefers me in no makeup what-so-ever.

At any rate, maybe tone it down a bit if you are in a small or religious town. Otherwise, study hard and don't worry about what they think! (Easier said than done, right?)

You should wear it if you want to. It is YOUR face, not theirs. Maybe they are jealous :-).

Personally, makeup makes me more awake, more confident, and more focused.

Maybe they don't know how to apply it correctly in the mornings. I also know some people who just don't get up early enough.

When I go to college, I know I will be waking up an hour early for my first class. I would shower, do my makeup, dress, eat breakfast, and go. I do know some people that while they were in college they just rolled out of bed in whatever they were wearing and went to class, which I think is kind of weird.

Makeup is good for those people who want to wear it. Makeup is bad for those people who don't want to wear it or are jealous of the ones who wear it. They will get over it.

Hey, I wouldn't honestly worry or care about what they think about you. It honestly sounds like they have more issues they need to address with themselves than with someone else. Some girls don't wear make-up and they look fine. The more natural for them the better. However, I feel that if they don't take care of the mustache and eyebrows, they aren't truly caring about themselves and would rather let themselves go than do something about it. I wear make-up and wouldn't change my opinion for anything. I haven't gotten too many dirty looks, but who cares. You wear what you feel like wearing and just because they don't wear make-up and you do, doesn't mean they are better than you. That's just dumb. But people judge people like that sometimes and they don't have anything hard to judge them on.

Remember, it isn't necessarily wrong or weird for those girls to not wear make-up and for you to wear it, because some girls do like it 'natural'.

Everyone has the right to look the way they want to without being judged by other people.

If you want to wear makeup that's OK, and if they don't that's OK too.

For heaven's sake, the stuff you put on your face doesn't affect how your brain works. For brainy girls they're being really dum about this.

Perhaps they're jealous of your skill at looking pretty, and they'd like to do the same?

Don't be so paranoid. There's no point obsessing about other people like this. By all means wear makeup if you want, but feel free to take a day off and go nekked-face some time, too... relax, girl!

Personally, I don't wear makeup everyday either, and I'm 22. It's just that I want to spend my college years doing well academically, 'cos my parents are paying through their nose for my tuition fees. I cannot afford to do badly and sit another semester. But, once I graduate, I certainly will start looking more groomed. I don't think I'm abnormal.

i personally don't think make-up has anything to do with girl being a good student or a bad student.
the girls in your school are doing what's working for them and you are doing what's working for you.
Which doesn't make either of you weird.

They are jealous freaks!!!! As or the taches, that is just rank. wear your make up with pride! Sooner you can get out of there the better! Ha ha!
