i'm a michigan fan like you but i want it to be fair. No one has played a tougher schedule than Florida and still only have one lost. but USC are the media darlings, never mind they play in the pack ten. how many of those teams have 7 or more wins?? hopefully when Ohio st. breaks their foot off in their a** maybe people will wake up and stop trying to hand them national championships.

In this day of age, the media solutes champions. The media also likes to take down those who do not take advantage of opportunities and like to support the underdog.
USC may have beaten Michigan in the media this year but if you look at recent history, Michigan has been one of "America's Teams" for a long time. Michigan's stadium is affectionately known as the Big House and any knowledgeable football fan knows that's Ann Arbor. When "Go Blue" is uttered, college fans know that is Michigan. When people think of "Hail to the Victors," they won't even know the name because college fans know the music by heart. If anything is to blame, it's the perception of the underdog. USC will always be an underdog to the national media because they are a west coast school. If USC has taken over and has actually become the media darling, then that only means they are Goliath. Most people root for David anyways

I am actually a Michigan fan, and at the end of the Ohio St. game I was very excited because I thought a rematch was inevitable. At that point, I was completely certain that Ohio St and Michigan were the 2 best teams and Michigan deserved a rematch.
Now, after seeing what USC has done this season, I can't argue that they deserve a shot. No more than Michigan or Florida, but they do deserve a shot.
Unfortunately, the system is set up with no playoff, and the national championship game is ultimately determined not by team strength, but by a subjective and often biased voting system.

Beats the heck outa me. I don't get the college ranking system at all.
Why don't they just take all those big money colleges and lump them all together and create an American College Football League (ACFL), with conferences and divisions like the NFL. Maybe they could have an American College Conference and a National College Conference with north, south, east and west divisions.
Then also a playoffs like the NFL; then an ACFL Super Bowl.
College football is basically like what the minor league is to baseball except the fact that college football is big business; so why not make college football more consistent with the pros in every aspect...including some kind of pay for the college athlete.
Why should the school reap all the profit and the athletes have to pray that they get their blessings after they graduate?

USC plays ten bowl teams this year vs. seven for Michigan. I'm not a USC fan, but I'm all for tough scheduling. Maybe the Blue could skip Ball State or the Central Michigan Chippewas next year and add a real game or two to their schedule.

The media watches all teams from all over the country and therefore probably have a good idea of who the best teams are.
I'm more tired of the respect that Notre Dame gets - they should join the Big Ten, but they won't because then they'll end up losing 3 to 5 games a year consistantly.

Their schedule and young team.
If they can play over 10 freshmen
and barely 4 seniors and have the
performances they had this season,
they deserve the chance that Michigan blew.
However, if they lose to UCLA..
by all means, take the game in Glendale
dear Wolverine.
Just think about it, if Mich beats Ohio St (rematch)
by a small margin, (which they probably would)
then people pro-Ohio St would want a
tie-breaker.. and the BCS simply doesn't have the
time and patience for that
because it would be "utterly absurd"

Why not just look at USC's record the last four years? Name another team that can be compared to it. UM doesn't want to play OSU again anyway, next time OSU won't have the uncharacteristic 4-5 turnovers, UM won't play a near-perfect game again, and it won't be pretty.
