I've had my belly button pierced for about a month and a half. I know suggested healing is 6 months to a year but I'm so bored of the one I have now (already...i know haha). It doesn't hurt when i take the one i have out and put it back in. The one I replace it with would be stainless steel. I don't see how it would matter, but just wanted to make sure. Thanks!

better get titanium or gold. Stainless steel works too. If you have no puss or infection you can disinfect the new one, put it in and treat it as if you just got pierced for about 2 weeks and you'll be ok

Well, its probably not fully healed, but if you are already taking the jewelry in and out, you might as well change it. Though the 6 months is an AVERAGE, everyone is different. Also, the reason that time frame is so long is so people are more careful and don't ruin their piercings after a month.

Just so you know, it might not hurt or be sore, but if you aren't careful, you can tear the skin inside and cause scarring and risk of infection (the skin inside is a tube of flesh called the fistula for future reference). Also, if you change the jewelry a lot, keep an eye out for migration and rejection. Often, heavy jewelry, poor quality jewelry or any trauma can cause migration. Once you change the jewelry, be sure to clean the area daily and unless you notice anything odd, I'm sure you'll be fine.

(Oh, the reason you should use 14g gold, surgical stainless steel or titanium is because the jewelry is of high quality with no cheap or impure materials. Its is least likely to cause pain or discoloring of skin and is easiest to clean and keep sanitary. Plastics are porous, which means they harvest bacteria and skin cells and after a while, they will smell awful)

I got mine done June 8th and today is July 24th and I just changed it. Make sure to clean the new ring and the hole just in case. Also make sure you change it quickly.. if it wont go through the bottom try putting the ring in upside down, then try again. After putting in the new ring make sure you keep cleaning it:)
