I know about the "Spirit of Giving" and all that, but all the people I know are adults - and Christmas gifts should be more geared towards children I feel.
Am I being a Scrooge? lol

i feel that way,its not because I'm scrooge or don't love anyone .this holiday is suppose to be the holiday for the birth of Christ,i don't see why we have to be so stressed out with buying gifts and being broke wouldn't it just be nice to have a family together with a nice dinner and maybe some people bring baked goods to share.well merry Christmas to you.

I never have bought for adults. If I want to give someone a gift I'll do it anytime during the year, but I don't care to personally contribute to the hypocracy of christmas. Not that me not buying is going to change the world view, but when I go at least I can say I did my part. And yes, if it matters to you, you will be viewed as a scrooge. That's part of the hypocracy of Christmas I am reffering to.

btw, I do send out Chritmas cards to let people know I remember them. and to make sure my addresses are up-to-date once a year.

I feel the same as u, gifts r ok for children who still believe in the magical world of Santa.I am very weary of the commercial aspect of Xmas, and the traditional giving of gifts to those that don`t need them or don`t want them. People generally buy whatever they want throughout the year. Gift buying is a waste of time, effort and money. Better to donate whatever momies u have to animal shelters or the Salvation Army.

There's a huge difference between reciprocal gifts to and from family and close friends and "giving," (i.e. sacrificing) so that some stranger can have a toy. Xmas is a holiday for the former, while the latter is a sick twisted deadly philosophy that must be purged from our world before it's too late.

A gift without a thought or feeling behind it is meaningless, and only family and friends can elicit or inspire such actions. "Give" is a dirty word, as it does only harm, taking away volition, purpose, and meaning to life. To "earn" is how the world runs best, for you, and for everyone, creating the self-love that knows no guilt and is the key to happiness.

I do it because I WANT to, not because I feel I have to. That makes all the difference in the world. Most of the time I make my gifts, since people can't buy time, thought, or talent from a store.
I figure it's only once a year, so why not enjoy it instead of let myself buy into all the commercialism.

Christmas is supposed to be a time of celebrating the birth of Christ. This is a tradition started by the Catholic church long ago. It has developed into a time of much greed. Many regular people like yourself feel this way. This year try something new and find someone worse off than yourself and give them a Christmas. You'll be surprised how much this will bring back to you what Christmas should be. Your local Salvation Army can help you with this. If your the shy type they can help you do it anonymously.

No...you're lacking Christmas Spirit. It happens to all of us. My tree is usually done by now but I can't get anyone to decorate...they just don't feel like it.

You need to get motivated. Perhaps some charity work will help as Christmas isn't just for kids...it's for everyone.

Nope. I stopped giving gifts years ago, and asked others to stop giving them to me. It has been a very freeing experience.
