He was in the right place at the right time. He was home in his cottage in some little Italian Village and someone mentioned that France was looking for a new emperor and that he said he always WANTED to rule France so he might as well go apply. So he filled out a few forms, the governor of Padua approved him and then he was being fitted for new clothes, worthy of the emperor of France. His first stop was the Ardennes, he went into the mayors office and humbly begged his pardon but he was the new emperor of france, would the mayor wish to vacate his home so he, Napoleon could move in? The mayor grumbled but he felt it was his duty to his country. And in this way, Napoleon eventually made his way to Versaille, and he took over the castle.

I think he was sort of compensating an inferiority complex from the start, by accumulating power. He was, however, an able politician and lawmaker (many standards and basic laws in Germany today still are derived or original laws from his time, let alone in France).
As other historic examples like Alexander the Great, or Nero, he went over the edge at some point, and thought of himself as a superhuman. And this was what made him fail in the end.

Well, when I think of him I tend to remember his lost battles where his devoted soldiers died by thousands, like the Beresina in Russia and Waterloo in Belgium.
He also tends to plunder the riches of the countries he invaded as all the other warriors.
He sacred himself emperor.
He also repudiated his first wife because she couldn't give him a heir...
He has also the setback of loosing his only son by his second wife.
Otherwise, he codified the law in replica of the Romans...
And of course he died in exile, after loosing from a coalition and was banned to St Helen's by the English...
About your crush on him, he was really short was very loved by his soldiers but it seems he had digestive problems and could be a pain in the neck!

3 things dear soul :

1. Napolean was a foolish manupulator
2. Chasing Napolean's thoughts in one's mind is the surest way to become mentally sick and more sick, try it if I am wrong and you will end up in a mental asylum
3. Napolean was a shrewd, cunning manipulator who did not succeed !!

Best thing for you :
Forget thinking about Napolean and chasing Napolean's stories and thoughts.
Take refuge in some role model that is healthy and good.

Get control of yourself before it is too late for you.

Ha-ha! I was in love with him at one time. I really was. My history book had this very handsome portrait of him and I would pine about him for hours.

I guess it was about this power and the things he accomplished. Might be why I was in love with Beethoven once as well.

he was certainly a great military genius but he failed to adapt his strategy when his enemies changed theirs. he was never truly secure in power and was a bad diplomat. there were inherent flaws in his battle field tatics which were exploited by wellington ultimately to his own end. a great man but his greatness cost the lives of thousands of french soldiers, using one army until it was destroyed and then simply raising another one.
plus you do know he came to power in a cou de ta,
