God loves all the people.
He is impartial and his love is unconditional.

Then why do good things things, behavior and actions have a high place in spiritual path ? Whey these are valued high even in God's eyes ?

doris you are right.

one can't keep doing bad things and be assured that he or she will be simply forgiven simply by one or the other religious means. God is not so stupid.

Hi girls and guys this is more of a philosophical question than a religious one.

The question is assuming that "good things, actions etc. are valued high" in God's eyes how this fit well with "God is impartial and his love is unconditional ?"

Please limit this question to philosophy and do not drag religious beliefs into it.

Tripan good way to put it. However for the present question I will have to say that your explanation is based on too many unnecessary assumptions (or that may look like assumptions to many). I would prefer an explanation of the philosophy logically with as few or no assumptions if possible.

Gadfly your answer is good and philosophical with minimum or probably no assumptions. Thanks.

"Good things, actions etc. are valued high in God's eyes" apparently on the surface may contradict with that "God is impartial and His love is unconditional", but when you look try to look from God's perspective, it all makes sense. For God loves mankind so much and want man to be just like Him in life and in nature and be one with him. The expression of someone who is more like Him is reflected in someone's good outward expressions and actions. (Of course, there are some people who are not so great inside, but still manage the facade for a period of time, though when trials come, their true color shows). Therefore, the good things, behavior and actions are outward manifestations of God's life in the believers, and the result of God's love.

There are many philosophical problems that emerge by personifying God as a being who is seperate from his own creation and asks for things from them.

That is how the most common theological perspectives picture God, and all those who believe in this concept will do something good for God, and not for themselves.

At the same time, as you imply a God with unconditional love cannot have demands from his own creation because perfection of the love theory states God must love them for how they are, and not for how He wants them to be.

Thus you can easily conclude that if God exists, He never could ask his creation to do something. The more simple state would be God just lets everyone live free from any interference as some universal laws take concern of justice and the maximum benefit for all living things.

The false concept of God's personification creates a meaningless complexity and inner confusion for whoever believing in it.

The topic is much broader than you can just ask here, so if you need further details to how possibly the system of life could be working, contact me any time you feel like it.

I can see what you are getting at. But I also think that I know the answer. Its kinda hard for me to put into words though. Let us say that you have a relationship with God. Meaning that you have studied his word, and therefore you have gotten to know him and love him. Also, you have learned what makes him happy and what makes him sad. Its only natural that you would want to make him happy. And so a higher priority would be placed on actions that pleased him. I think that that is a very very very simplified answer on why people who believe in God try to be good. And as to why God places a high value on good actions or behaviors...Well. You said it yourself. God loves all the people. And you want to see those that you love happy. And if you take a good look at God's laws,(I'm not talking the individual man made laws that people have thrown in there), they all benefit mankind in someway. I hope that made any sense...lol.

To believe in god is to also believe that the devil exist. One way he will try and pull us away from god is for us to question the suffering of others. Look at yourself and think of what good he has given you. But don't let every test that comes your way discourage you. This life we live is temporary. With all the wrong there is in the world, it gives us opportunity to do good. This perfect world that we want so much will be attained if we make it to heaven. And it's in heaven that we will have no more worries or suffering, but hell is going to be a suffering unlike any we can endure here in this life.

Based upon the refinement we have made to our soul we are placed on one platform from where our journey starts towrards the supreme being... Now all are standing on different platform hence there is difference... For God all are same, because He knows sooner or later the worst person of the glob will also be merging into Him.. if you do not have rich quality you will cycle out some more births before you could reach God.. If you have more good quality your journey will be faster..

Ha! Good question, I been wondering about it for a long time - does it imply that you can do great evil repeatedly, and then ask for forgiveness, and you will still be accepted again by god? If this is the case, then why in the first place, we must be good? Guess, this is the reason why I never really believe in God.

Because doing good things is good for your health. Because doing good things is good for your soul. No matter what you do you can't earn your way into Heaven. But why not try and do it because it's right. Doing good things is a way to show your appreciation to God. He does not single anyone out. He loves us all the same as a Father loves his children. Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. Or B.I.B.L.E. The laws in it are for our own good. If the world followed it, it would be a glorious thing.

Yes, the God is unconditional.... and so, like in a democratic set up, we are the choosers ! And we get just what we choose !
Freedom in any form imposes a greater responsibility, whichever way we look at it, and hence the need to choice the right things to do !

love can still be unconditional and have boundries.
Our behavoir is not to be purely motivated by God, but rather as humans our actions are fruits of our insides.
There are the ten commandments. Not ten suggestions.

If someone loves you unconditionally, isn't it natural that you would love Him and want to be like Him and be closer to Him?
Think of your own father. If he were a wonderful, loving, kind person, wouldn't you want to emulate him?
Gods love for us contains a longing to bring us closer.
