Im not a short boxer so I cant help you

You're getting two leg holes...so there's a pair! LOL! Boxers have two leg holes to put your two legs through. They're just connected together so they stay on you. Socks don't need to be connected together because they already stay on just fine. That's my logic anyway.

because its a plural, boxer shorts. there not boxer short. so one sock is 'a sock' but two socks are a 'pair of socks'.

I see what you mean - it is daft! We say a pair of trousers too, don't we? Maybe the Trades Descriptions Act covers this - any lawyers out there?
