Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was much better than Star Trek: The Motion Picture...
and Once upon a time in Mexico was a bazillion times better than Desperado.

Hmm.....the first one that comes to mind is Children of the Corn 2, but that might just be because the first one came out a little before my time(my time to be watching scary movies, that is) ~ same goes for Pet Sematary 2

It's rare that the sequel is better than the original, but here's one:
X-Men 2
Really all the X-men films were good so that answer's quite controversial and I barely rate that film above the first. However X-Men III is definitely better than both.
