It's been the toughest year of my life. If you don't believe that, check out my 360. I am trying and trying, but the upcoming holidays are making me even more overwhelmed and melancholy.I need to chill, but I just can't. Any ideas?

I would have to say that this has been just about my worst year also. It is overwhelming. One answer said don't sweat the small stuff, but when the small things come on the heels of bigger things that is easier said than done. This time of year everyone expects you to act a certain way and when you don't have that in you it adds to the pressure as well. I try to take a small amount of time out to do something mundane, like getting my gardens ready for next year or renting a movie. You know, stuff to take your mind off of it for a little while. Once again I can relate to one of your questions. Take it easy and good luck!

I'll tell you what works for me, which only works sometimes...

Just try thinking of things this way... all the little things we stress about are just moments... mistakes we make become part of the past, and (unless you do something horrendous like ... Hitler) they fade. Missed opportunities often return in another form; there are endless opportunities. Basically, try the "big picture" way of looking at things.

"Ok, so if I screw this up, then what? Then I screwed it up. Chalk it up to experience and let's move on."

Actually, I find that in many cases, I've become too tired to worry anymore.

Also, I'm sorry you had a tough year.

Take a day off. Go to a quiet place alone. Take a blanket and a picnic basket. Sit and watch the clouds roll by. Return when you've wound down.
