I'm generally quiet, I listen a lot and I'm quite fed up with people telling me how smart and original I am. So, the question is: why don't they pay that much attention to what the others say - and some say interesting stuff but noone listens to them - and focus on my words? The second I open my mouth an eerie silence sets in, all eyes are set on me and they listen like their live depended on it!

it happens to me all the time as well.
I think it's because we're so quiet all the time that when we finally do say something, everyone wants to listen :)

well friend Respect is somthing GOD gifted not all people are respected like that that was a bit religious type of answer if your religious
and here is another answer if you dont believe in GOD
the thing is that some people are very attractive and beautiful and trust worthy and truth speeking or having alot of experience of life or things so when they talk about their experience and life and thoughts people listen carefully to gain somthing from you
or may be they just like you

Congratulations on being able to grab people's attention when you speak. Good listeners make good speakers and most people aren't good listeners. They just talk too much & saying what?

When you sense this is happening ask others their opinion. This gets you off the hook with all of the attention and it shows your regard for the opinion of others.
