There are some really good muliti vitamins for women...they are often called 'pregnancy and breast feeding fomula' They have the right amount of folic acid, iron, calcium etc you need and are recommended to take 3 months before and during the time ure trying to concieve as well as during the pregnancy. Like any vitamin they dont work alone tho you have to have a balanced diet and try to stay away from cigarettes, booze and of course drugs.
Just check in with your doc before taking any vitamins and make sure they are the right ones for you.
Hope this helps a bit.

None, preferably.
It’s much better to get everything first hand. This site, http://whfoods.org/nutrientstoc.php ,is a great tool to find out in which ingredients your required vitamins and other nutritional values are to be found. Like that you can get Zinc, vitamin E, selenium straight from your food.
Some supplements whom are extremely healthy in their natural state, like curcuma and green tea can be even harmful via supplements.
However, some supplements are better then the real thing due to pollution. Although fat fish like tuna and salmon are good for you and your baby, the pollution of dioxins and mercury counter balance that.
Best is to be play safe and get a special fish omega oil for pregnant women in a health store or pharmacy. Like that you get the good without the bad.
Some scientists (or fish industry lobby) claim the advantages are greater the risks, others say it's not worth taking that risk as there are other omega oil sources about.
Regarding nutrition, studies on the offspring of victims of the Irish famine shows that poor nutrition quality can not only affect children but also grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Male nutrition is important 3 month before conception as sperm takes 3 month to form.
Female nutrition is important during the 9 months of pregnancy and during lactation. If you enter "pregnancy" in the search engine of www.whfoods.com you get a list of recommended foods.
If all of the above is too much, just get a detox cure before getting pregnant and simply eat organic.

My OB recommends every woman of child bearing years take a pre natal vitamin (regardless of pregnancy) They are jammed packed w/ vitamins. Also they are one of the few vitamins that are checked by the FDA. You can buy one over the counter (bottle usually reads 1 pill for non pregnant women) make sure each pill contains at least 400 mg Folic Acid. Other than that avoid most other, Good Luck

There is a link to a free personalized vitamin and supplement profile at
( http://www.reducingstress.net ) It recommends what you should take based on a combination of your age, weight, gender exercise and eating habits.
I tried it and it was really good.

well, TAB. FOLIC ACID 5mg daily, in first trimester of pregnancy, reduces the risk of NEURAL TUBE DEFECTS and CLEFT PALATE and CLEFT LIP.
secondly, it provides for the extra iron requirement that a mother needs.
but in order to conceive, the best advice is to use any multivitamins avialable over the counter, and have a balance diet with daily exercise. abstinence from CIGARETTES n ALCOHOL.
