mahatama gandhi was fondly called 'BAPU' (meaning father) by the inmates of sabarmati ashram(d place where he lived in india during d freedom fight). gradually as everyone started to call him by that name only, he became the father of the nation!!
i hope that'll do. anyways ,since u seem 2 b n indian, it's rlly strange why u should b asking this? imean its soooooooo well known, atleast to u people, not to say of the outer world (everyone does i suppose). anyways, i hope that's vt u are looking 4 or did u mean smthn else????
