What's a good act and sat scores to get into, lets say UC Davis. What happens if i do bad on one section of the ACT. Does my SAT cover that area for me if i give colleges both my ACT and SAT scores.

UC doesn't really like the ACT too much. they'll take a score, but really, most UC applicants offer a SAT score.

I submitted both ACT and SAT scores to the UC system, but you can pick and choose if you like. I did "poorly" in one section on the ACT, but I sent it in anyway. then again, I didn't really put much stock into my ACT score. I had a 31 composite score, but that included a perfect score in science, and a 26 on Reading Comprehension (I have the attention span of a fruit fly).

Keep in mind, UC schools will look at other factors to determine whether your standardized test scores are consistent for evaluating you as an applicant (for example, did you do poorly and get really great scores? or did you score high and get bad grade? or did you do well on both?).

Anyway, UC Davis is still fairly selective. I'd shoot for a 28+ ACT score for that school.
