It is PROBABLY her teeth getting ready to come in. However, at this age she is also starting to learn how to manipulate her environment!! She may be enjoying the carrying and attention she gets when she cries. She may also be experiencing anxiety over the whole "object permanence" concept.

My daughter is two months older than yours....and she is doing this, too. About 75% of the time I am pretty sure it is her teeth coming in. The other bit of time I think it is her having learned that she will get picked up and held and loved all the more when she cries.

I think she will outgrow this....try some teething gel, in the meantime and see if this helps. Personally, I LOVE the LIttle Teethers brand by Little Remedies. Very gentle on the gums and less expensive than Ambesol. You can find it at Wal-Mart and Target!!

Hope this helped!!

Wow....I bet all those "Doctor, now!!" comments have you freaked out. Rest assurred....YOU are her parent and you know you would take her to the doctor if you were really THAT worried!! Don't let those comments freak you out. Definately call the doctor if it continues or if she has a fever or is pulling on her ears (signs of an ear infection). BUT....taking your child to the doctor everytime they cry isn't neccesary. You are the expert on your child.....

yes, at the moment the reason for the baby cryiing is most possible TEETHING, try to give her some soothers, and DEKTARIN ORAL GEL, apply on little finger and message to all her gums infront and sides, that will help!

besides the reasons for a baby crying are following:
1. hungry
2. cold
3. too hot
4. wet
5. hair in the eyes
6. colicky pain abdomen
7. something itching e.g. pin

any baby who cries for more than 1 hour even when tried to calm down, has some underlying organic disease process which needs to be diagnosed and any serious condition ruled out.

I am a mother and grandmother, and if any of my kids or grandkids started crying the way your child is, I would take them to the doctor just to rule out anything serious.
It is possible she could be teething, and teething can cause
enough pain to make her cry in spirts (fits) as you put it.
But the best advice I can give you is to take her to the doctor
as soon as possible.
If it is teething pain he can give her something for that too..

Crying is perfectly normal for babies under 1 - this might be her teeth coming through - im not entirely sure what age kids start teething but i think it is around 7 mnths

Call doctor now. If his office is not open or you don't have his home phone, take her to the ER. She may be teething yes, but there may also be another underlying issue that you can't see but can definetly hear!

Take her to the docter you moron. It could either be her teeth coming in, or there could be another problem.
