For the past 2 days It's been a struggle to give my 6month baby a bottle but she wants to eat her solid food. She cries because she is hungry & when I try to give her a bottle she cries harder & wont drink although she will open her mouth to take a spoonful of food. She has not had any milk for 15hours now but she has had 2 meals of solids.
She does not sleep through the night but last night before bed I tried to give her bottle which she wouldn't take but slept a full 12 hours without waking. I'm not sure whether to take her to the doctors because I don't want to waste their time if she is eating her solids. She does not seem herself because she is crying alot & sleeping alot. Can anyone advise me on the best thing to do?

Thanks for all your answer so far.
I don't think changing the teat will work because she clamps her mouth shut when she sees her bottle but still cries because she is hungry, & She has not worked out how to use a sippy cup yet even though I give one to her everyday with juice.

I would say it all depends on what foods she is eating. If she wants fruit and cereal then you have to take it away from her because there are not enough nutrients. I am not sure what the doctor would tell you but I would rather see her get the formula than take the food at this age.

Do not give her the food tomorrow an more or less make her take the formula

Please do not put cereal in the bottle ever - they choke on it

Take her to the doctors my daughter did this when she was 11 & a half months old and ended up in hospital with dehydration she wouldn't take any fluids at all. She ended up having reflux even though she didn't have it when she was younger and had to be medicated.

Let her eat the solid food, but try using a sippy cup. Or maybe you have a slow flow nipple and she is getting frustrated, try giving a fast flow nipple. Good Luck!

You need to take her to the doctor! You will not be wasting their time, trust me. Your babies primary source of nutriation should be formula until 1 year and also needs liquid. But needs formula the solids are really not essentail.
