If anyone can do it, he can. The magic of the Savard name in Chicago will boost morale, if nothing else.

I read that Savard's first practice was tougher than Yawney's. He is changing the game play a bit, especially having D pinch a little more. I think he will be looked up to more than Yawney as he has been respected since his playing days. Also, the Hawks will do better just by getting all their key players back, so if the Hawks do turn their season around it just won't be because of Savard.

If Denis can get them to play like he did they will look much improved. But the bottom line is they need a management change if they are ever going to return to the glory days. They have drafted poorly for the most part, either traded or just let most of their character and heart players leave and they have made some poor free agent signings. And worst of all they are now playing in a half empty building....I remember going to Red Wing- Hawks games in the past (okay i am a Wing fan, always was and always will be) but Chicago was just so awesome to go to because the building was rocking from the minute Wayne Mesmer ( I think that is the right spelling) sang the anthem until the last fight which always seemed to happen in the last 30 seconds of the game. And the pipe organ was way cool too!By the way, the new building sucks compared to the old dump( nicer stuff but you know what I mean)!!! I think the downward spiral started when they dumped Belfour and Hasek. I hope they get it right soon, looking forward to going back and listening to the smack from Hawk fans!!!

Changing coaches is just passing the buck. Without a change in ownership any coach is hired to be fired. Mr Savard will have some impact but like here in Philly, our teams aren't going anywhere. It's essentially the same old thing. That's why.....
SNIDER MUST GO !!!!!

Savard will be a great change for the 'Hawks, but he's just not enough to turn the team around.

Only the Wirtz family going down in a plane crash will turn the Blackhawks around. Wirtz built this mess over time, and there's not a thing anyone can do until Chicago changes owners.

Not a chance!. Let's face it, Chicago is just a bad organization. They have made poor draft, and free-agent decisions(Martin La Pointe,Adrian Aucion,Brian Boucher, Brent Seabrooke)..these guys are garbage!..So no Savard will not turn around the Hawks. They will finish last again in the Central Division.
