Nooooooooo!!
**NOTHING** should be banned from comedy really.
If you remove jokes that are:-
Offensive to black folks
Offencise to white folks
Offensive to mixed race folks
Offensive to Jewish
Offensive to Muslim
Offensive to Christians
Offense to Women
Offensive to Gay / Bi / Lesbian
Offensive to disabled
Offensive to old
Offensive to the sick
Offensive to those who have been traumatised
You end up with "Why did the chicken cross the road" - but then someone from Peta might object on the grounds that the chicken should never have been put in a position where it had to endure the dangers of navigating a carriageway.
Humour KNOWS no bounds - preteneding that jokes are not funny because the are politically incorrect is cretinous.
Censoring words because some emotional cripple cannot handle them is wrong - if people are going to freak out if they hear ANY words in a comedy club, they need to think why they are going.
There is plenty of bland insipid generic crap they could watch on TV instead.

So I guess the n word disproves the old 'sticks and stones will break my bones . . . ' theory. If the word is 'banned' that means no one, including non-whites, can use it. But when you ban one word, what is next, a song, a poem, a book, a movie, a painting? If the n word has that much power, then something is really wrong with our society. It is a name, a label, slang - shouldn't we be taking offense at important things, like starting and continuing a war that is and was wrong? Ruining the environment? Poor education in our schools? I mean, if 1/2 the energy that went towards the n word was used in any of the other issues, they wouldn't be issues anymore. Getting riled up over a word here, is like the muslims getting pissed off over a cartoon - people, grow up and spend your worry time on important things.

Well then what would black comedians say every other word? The world has gotten way to PC and once again a white mans right to speech is gotten him in trouble witn Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, two people that have done nothing to end racism but everything to promote strife. If I were Micheal Richards I would hold out for an apology from the hecklers for ruining the evening for the rest of the audience instead of kissing Jackson and Sharptons asses trying to get in their good graces....who needs them...NO freedom of speech is freedom of speech. If those two guys didn't want to get call "N"'s they shouldn't go around acting like "N"'s its a novel concept I know but it's just crazy enough to catch on....sorry i rambled a little

i dont believe it should be banned. In comedy you are trying to push the limits and that is okay. The deal is howevery you have to be funny. What richards was doing, was not meant as a joke, i do not care how anyone looks at it. He was trying to be hurtful. Further more he made references to lynching, and not in a hilarious way. Race is a big thing in America and we joke so that we can cope with the inequalities. However, he was not as witty as a comedienne could be.

They are not being racist they are just doing what they do best is make people laugh. They don't mean it in a way to offend people. Wait I have an idea lets ban people that get offended from watching comedy. They don't deserve to laugh.

That's a tough one. Sometimes black people call themselves the n word in comedy. I'd have to say if it might offend some that they should ban it. I wish they'd do the same with sex in comedy. I am a Christian and that offends me.

Anything that is offensive, and negative to a group of people should not be allowed in any public forum. Including Yahoo!Answers. Everyone needs some training. What has happened to society. When did all of this happen. What happened to the good feelings of the '60s?

That's a tough question. I personally hate the word and I hate to hear it used in all contexts black on black, white on white, white on black, black on white. I don't care. It's a word that was derived to be racist. And I think racism itself is what should be banned in clubs.

i think Micheal Richards should be banned from comedy clubs. it depends on the context and freedom of speech, no matter what the speech is still something to be valued.

No. No word in and of itself has good or bad meaning. It is the way you use it. We hear the word ****** used a lot and we don't care. The reason we don't care is because the guy who said it has different colored skin. Does this bother anyone else?
