i guess it would kind of help you socially. i mean its someone that you could talk to and get social news from and things, but its not going to give you tons more friends or anything. i have a brother and a sister, my sister being around the same age as me, and i personally get alot of school gossip and such from her that i would not normally get, so i guess having her has helped me socially, however my brother is much younger and just talks about computer games and things lol

Well I'm an only child and that just taught me to entertain myself and when I get around others be as friendly as possible when I'm with them, because I don't have anyone at home to play with. That doesn't mean I was a weak person, I just learned very early how to manipulate others. So I would have my toys and be selfish for a while and once my friends would start to get fed up I would be extra nice to them and they would forgive me. I learned how to survive on my own and fight my own battles and how to pick my battles. I also found ways to get attention in positive ways because I never had to fight for attention at home. The friends that I had in elementary school usually had siblings and some of them were very selfish and had some pretty bad attitudes when it came to play time. Honestly there are a lot of pros and cons to having siblings and not, but the only really important part to anyones social life is how they were raised and the values that were instilled in them. So I would say it doesn't really matter as long as they are raised by good parents.

I say it does. Because your siblings are the only ones you can fight with brutally honest with. It teaches you competition and when it's time to stop being nice and start being rude, which is all too neccessary sometimes. I also think that when siblings take it too far parents show the kids it's time to apologize or how to rectify the situation. All of these learning experiences when mixed together show the kids about the proper medium for dealing with other people, non siblings, in everyday situations. Not so nice they get stepped on but not so ruthless that nobody likes them. Hope this helps.

Well in ways I have noticed if the female child is 1st the male child talks later then some children. Not always the case but it's common. Then with children close in age or twins they make up their own language with one another. It's really according what type personality the child has.
