'but i love you'. it sounds really selfish and painful to hear. a relationship isnt solely based on love. there's got to be trust, honesty, compassion, respect and understanding. saying 'but i love you' is gettin kinda desparate and at the same time is used in the wrong context at times. like, when sum1 asks their partner for sex and they say 'no' then they would respond with 'but i love you'. in this scenario, the person doesnt understand that the other person doesnt want to hav sex and keeps begging until they say yes, which gets painful because mayb sex isnt something that the other person is interested in at that stage of the relationship, and in a way if they keep begging they are getting selfish of the other person's feelings. in another scenario, someone cheats on their partner and the partner finds out, the person responds with 'but i love you', thinking that everything will be okay, but it isnt. if u cheat on someone, it makes it painful. but what makes it more painful is hearing the words 'but i love you'. it's more than selfish saying it. i mean, u know the partner is gonna need some time to get over it if they wanna b forgiven, but people say it anyway. it's actually quite condescending in a way because if you really loved them, you wouldnt go cheating on them in the 1st place. for these reasons and many more, i believe the most selfish and painful sentence is 'but i love you'.
