Michael Chricton- Timeline, Jurassic Park, Sphere, Airframe, etc. Also Tom Clancy and John Grisham are good- but Chricton is more adventure, clancy is anti-terrorism and grisham is courtroom.

Hello dear!
If I may, allow me to advice the following: Your time - yourself - is your most valuable possession. Thus, you use it (don't spend it) wisely. Thus, get books that are good for you (not the ones the society drives you to spend time on - get the messages they want - control you easier! If you want to hear (don't listen to anyone but yourself - your conscious) what I advice, get some important book, buy it. USE it, write on it, keep notes on the front and back blank pages. Afterwards you will see how wiser you are, you discover it since those books are real not fictional and brainwashing!
Suggestions: Iliad of Homer, Works and Days, by Hesiod, some tragedy of Euripides, or Sophocles, or Aeschylus, some comedy by Aristophanes, the letter of Epicurus to Menoeceus, ....
You can not understand how such effort will positively influence your life! You will be raised from a consumer to a thinker! Of course, if you wish to do not hink and be a Guinea pig, do follow the thinking path!

From a conservation attitude, borrowing is extra useful, provided you come back them undamaged. From the collector's attitude, you ought to purchase the books. Shakespeare weighed in on the topic in Hamlet, even as he had Polonius tell his son Laertes, "Neither a borrower nor a lender be, for loan oft loses both itself and pal and borrowing dulls the sting of husbandry."

You could try Florians Gate, and its sequel, The Amber Room, by T. Davis Bunn...or...The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry....or simply try something totally new, like The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco...all fine books, all excellent reading.
