I speak English and Russian.
This year I'm living in Mexico, and I don't speak Spanish.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that's a distinct disadvantage when trying to communicate with the local animals, but I can assure you it's mostly not.
I lived across the road from one of the angriest & barkiest dogs I'd ever met; my buddy Hooch, the huge Bull Mastif who's bigger than me.
I visited him several times every day & chatted, so he became familiar with my voice & language.
Next, I'd go to him when neighbours walked past & he was going into fever-pitch. I gave him treats when he calmed down.
I got him to the point of keeping quiet when neighbours & their kiddies went past (much to the relief of everyone), and I fed him a snack every morning and evening.
In the end, he only ever barked when a 'dodgy' stranger went past.
My minder, & way cheaper than an alarm system!
BONUS: the people in my neighbourhood were thrilled by the 'foreign woman who tamed the monster', and they kept an eye out for me too. Hooch's 'dad' was pleased with the decrease in local complaints & gave Hooch to me every night & all weekend for my increased personal protection & Hooch's ever-improving behaviour.

Another part of town, another rabidly territorial dog; Tyson the Rottweiler. Not only did he stop barking & growling, he learned how to open the back door, break into my room & climb onto my bed!
I drew the line at that!

Now I've moved to a not so safe neighbourhood. The first thing I did was make friends with the nasty street dog that everyone's afraid of.
I step out of my double-locked, double doored apartment, and 'my dog' comes running to greet me, scattering people & rival dogs before him.
Just a quiet little rumble from his throat ensures my safety, & silence from the other dogs in the street..occasionally he brings a 'pal' to meet me, and so the peace spreads further afield.

How do you silence your neighbour's barking dog? Just show a little kindness & get to know them.

I'd call 911 if it was during the night when it was disturbing the peace. Most dogs bark when they're miserable and neglected. I have three dogs and I don't leave them to bark outside. One of them loves to do that. It's her favorite activity, but my neighbors and my family deserve peace. You could tape the dog barking and call the neighbor in the middle of the night and play the barking.

Do what I did. Record the dog barking then dub it over and over on a tape so you have around a half hour of it's noise. Then, put your speakers outside at two A.M., facing the offenders house and play the tape as loud as you want. When the dogs owner opens a window or appears in their doorway and yells at you to shut your dog up, you can tell them truthfully that is NOT your dog barking, it is theirs. AND, inform them that you would appreciate it if they kept their dog quiet. If they refuse, just keep playing the tape. Even if they call the cops, you just tell them who's dog is barking.

Hello,
You should definitely attend a dog training course if you want to stop these unwanted behaviours. A good one I found online is http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=572

It's really well made (it has a lot of videos), simple and effective. I recommend it.
Cheers ;)

poor gasoline on the dog, it would help the flees get off of it since 60 percent of the time, dogs bark because of flees.
