Travellers Cheques are better than currency, not only the exchange rate but also the safety measures.

It depends on the exchange rate of the day you are going to give your travellers cheques. You will get good exchange rates in nationalized banks such as State Bank of India. Please check display board or ask the relevant person at the bank for the exchange rate of US dollars. The rates change almost every day.

You will be given a simple form to fill containing your residential address, passport number, travellers cheque no.s, etc. Please check for the bank timings (to my best knowledge it is difficult to exchange cheques after 2 p.m.)
