It STARTS getting dark a little before 5:00 pm and is completely dark by 5:30 pm.

It depends entirely on latitude. All of the US West Coast is in the Pacific Time Zone. In the winter it gets darker earlier as you go north. In the summer the reverse is true. In the Seattle area darkness starts around 4:15pm in December and it is fully dark by about 5:00pm.

i'm pretty sure it gets dark between 5-6 just like on the east coast. when we set our clocks back the west coast did too. so its still a three hour difference between us.

If you are talking about OUR West Coast, it would depend . The basic answer would be shortly after dusk, but if it's heavily overcast, it would happen earlier.
