Did you grow it indoors or out? Why do they say that you can't eat the bananas? Thank you! I saw a starter tree for $25.

I grow them outdoors in zone 6A. Just cut them down to about 1 foot tall after the frost kills the leaves. I also cover them with large flowers pots turned upside down, but that's probably not necessary. Fertilize well in spring and mid-summer with 10-10-10 and they'll do just fine.

They multiply rather freely in good soil. They're decorative, not a food source.

$25 seems rather high to me. Check out tropical plants on eBay, and I think you'll find a better price.

Enjoy!

I have several growing outdoors in Zone 7. If you get bananas from Japanese Banana they will be filled with seeds and little else.
Try this web site- banana tree.com- for all sorts of info on the many types of bananas and how to grow them indoors and out.
I think that $25.00 is too high a price.
