i am assuming that when you turn on the computer there is nothing or a beep from the computer. if at power on, your computer did not beep check the following:
1. check if the fan of your power supply at the rear is working.
2. check if the fan of the microprocessor inside is also working.
assuming both are working, your problem will be limited to 2. Its either your memory module or your motherboard. try taking the memory module out & rubbing the copper contacts w/ an eraser. if it still does not work, try getting another mem module w/ same specs and substitute it. if it still does not work, your motherboard might be the problem. bring it to a technician to verify problem & suggested remedy.

Hello... Just because your monitor light is on and the screen has light does not mean it good, plug it into another computer, if it works then replace your Video card, try to get the same one as you have so you don't have to change your drivers, anyway how do you know for sure your mother board is working, i could tell you how to check real fast but you would have to know what a capacitor is, if you do then look at the capacitors on your motherboard and if any have a round top they are blown, they all should be flat on top, this is very common in power failures..

Try the monitor on another computer. If it works, then it's the video drivers or video expansion card (if you have one). If the video is integrated, it's the drivers. Reload the video drivers to the computer. The worst time for a power failure to happen is when your computer is in the middle of doing something. See if you can get into "safe mode". Hit the F8 key repeatedly BEFORE winXP loads, and then delete those new programs that you had just put in. Then, unistall the video monitor(s) in the device manager and reboot.

Does windows load? Listen for the usual sounds. music, etc. Then push the power button on the pc 1 time and see if it logs off correctly. If you hear all the good sounds and clunks that are normal, then your graphics are probably kaput. Go to the device manager and look for yellow on any video devices. If you see one, try to update the driver. I have had the problem, and solved it with a pci graphics card.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
