depends if its mainstream or not. Mainstreams like those you can find on MTV are commercial junks.
Anyway, I like new underground music but old music is still classic.

I think it all depends on the songs, the singer etc... I love older music but you'll find that the old classics keep on coming back but sung by the newer artists.... Sometimes they pull them off and sound just as good as the original, however other times they sound rubbish and completely spoil the song....
Listen to what you like, doesn't matter how old it is, your music taste will change throughout the years and the music also will change....
It's all a mixed balance, sometimes new sounds are better, but the old classics are the best.... It's all a generation thing I fear you like what you like, and what you've been brought up listening too...
I have a 5 and 8 year and both like a variation of music, from 50 and 60s, Queen, Elvis, Jo-Lo, 80s and 90s music, even down to modern stuff.... But they like the older stuff that we listen to....

Pre-90's is far better, the artists must have actually made music to get a record contract, most of the new rock is just a lot of noise with no decent riffs, just rhythm, a singer that 'roars', sound like something outta hell (maybe its suppose to be like that), there is no art, nothing unique. Sorry guys, bands like Beatles, Rolling S, Queen, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Led Zep, Deep Purple, Crue, AC/DC etc. their music will always be listened to !!

Most of the older music is better without a fight. Seems that I have very few albums in my collection past 2000, let alone the 90s. Most is 80s on backward to the 1930s even with the advent of the big band. I think that today's jazzy stuff can compete with older stuff, but very few other types of music today are good.

Pound for pound, pre-1989 music works a heck of a lot better than post-89 pap.

rock is rock and will be good, new or old... some old rock songs are revised by new bands and they both are equally good. they are both good because of the unique words and such...
both are good, they both rock! [though i kinda prefer new rock]
