I have Celeron 477 mhz, 64*2 RAM, 10 GH HDD 5 yrs old computer.

When I start a PC. It's working fine. But after a few minute, it freezed. When I restart again working well for few minute and hanged.
Sometime, long beep comes out. Sometimes no beep sound and monitor's LED start blink which is like after shutdown.
I have to switch on-swith off for 3-5 times. Then again working and hanged after few minute.

When I removed RAM. Sometimes no sound. sometime long beep.

I have two RAM module of 64 MB.

What is the problem with my PC. Is there SMPS has problem or RAM has ??

I hope you have been backing up your data. If it is not a HD failure you should be able to connect the HD to another computer for data recovery

I have had this problem occur a couple of times over the years (different computers) Several different causes. The most recent time (and has occurred on other machines as well) one of the ram modules went bad or became damaged in some way.
It took some time to figure out... the short cut description is I took one out, it worked fine (but slower), so I switched them and tried it with the 2nd module and after a few minutes - blue screen dead.
Have had 1 experience of both going bad and 2 experiences where it appeared both modules were bad but turned out to be a different problem such as HD failure, damaged cpu caused by intermittent fan failure.
If both fail it - might be - both modules are bad or that neither is bad only way to find that out is to go get them tested.

I would also recommend the other stuff mentioned - such as cleaning since you will have the case open....

To make your efforts much easier - #1 unplug from the wall. I suggest a ground strap for you and the computer, but your choice, then #2 do the cleaning noted above. #3 while the case is open check for burn or melt looking marks. #4 (remove ground straps then) plug computer in and turn it on and look for fans that aren't working - as noted above CPU fan is #1 important - if it seems to stutter or flutter, sounds uneven or kinda out of sync whatever term you want, I would suggest replacement (but with age of computer I would vote get newer computer).

The possibility is that your RAM could not support the OS and the other applications running on the computer.

The softwares and application that come now-a-days atleast require a minimum of 128 RAM for their operation.

When you boot the system, your OS acquire a part of the RAM and when you start using some programs or applications, they also acquire some RAM and at sometime you RAM become insufficient for working and hence u face the problem.

Better upgrade you RAM.

I hate to say this but our computer is old. getting a new one might not be a bad idea. by looking at your specs you might want to invest in some RAM getting up to 512MB would increase the speed greatly of your computer. Open the case and take a look inside, and clean it out if it is dirty. but i would suggest investing in a new computer you can get ones really cheap now a days that would suit your needs well, but if you like your computer, i would suggest cleaning it out, and replacing the ram.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.

you may need to reformat your computer since it's a five year old system. check this resource on how to reformat and reinstall windows:
