Sometimes people's personal buttons are pushed by something someone does or says. You may have pushed someones button with one or more of your questions or answers. You do have the right to say what you want here, within limits of course. Children do inhabit this area on occasion and yes we do have a certain restriction imposed upon us to clean it up ourselves. If you feel the need to blurt out obscenities you know someone will be offended. You're a very intelligent person and you know how to word things so that people don't get offended at your questions. If they don't see the question as you intended it to be then explain in the detail that it's not the way it was taken by them. Otherwise someone may take retribution on you by reporting your questions and answers. I don't want to see you deleted and I'm sure many others don't want that either.

If you are questioning why certain topics are verboten in public or with the media I totally agree with you. Nowadays certain subjects are considered off limits. The first ammendment was given to allow us to question and talk about anything. There may be limits of appropriateness- certain parents may not be thrilled to have a discussion of whether oral sex is really sex or not or not at the table next to their 5 year old twins.
As far as 'how' you discuss certain topics and your choice of words, that is a different story. True discussion allows for discourse regarding differences of opinion, and if you use inappropriate language you are showing that you have no respect for the other person and they will discount your opinions immediately. If you want to persuade people, speak in their language, hear their response, and respond appropriately. They may be persuaded to your point of view.
If you are not interested in persuading someone of your viewpoint, then use all the profanity and / or racial / sexual epithets you want. While it is an abuse of the first ammendment as envisioned by the founding fathers, it will likely no longer be prosecuted. On the other hand, your lack of respect and understanding for those less advanced than yourself will be immediately noted and those not on your wavelength will promptly discount your ideas because of the way they are presented.
If you are not trying to persuade, one has to wonder why you are making controversial statements in the first place. Just to shock people? If so, perhaps there is some major inner rage somewhere you need to address in therapy. When it comes out in public inappropriately, someone elses unaddressed inner rage may erupt in the form of a fist to the face.
Words mean something. Wisely used they bring us together and allow us to live peaceably side by side with our different values. Used foolishly they bring us into conflict and we waste valable time and energy foolishly fighting or creating drama.

Nobody is wrong. Each person has their own thoughts and opinions on certain things. I usually don't really watch what I say and don't really care if people will take me the wrong way or not. But at times, I find myself watching words that are gonna come out of my mouth simply because I hate debating with stupid people who always have to prove themselve right.

Well Demonica, self proclaimed queen of polls and surveys, if you want to pose controversial questions & share your opinions and wisdom, you must be prepared to accept others opinions of your questions, your answers, and you.
You also need to think about the way you communicate..do you come across as "mean, nasty, or profound"? (I kind of think you mean 'profane').
Admittedly, it's never a very pleasant experience when anyone 'puts you back in your place', but accept it for what it is..a lesson, a chance to re-think things from a different perspective, a chance to redeem yourself.
Take a chill-pill and some time to think about what presses your buttons and why.

Dear you are not wrong, the last I noticed we are in America and are free to say what we want. The problem is some people have negative outlook on life and are quick to analyze or judge what someone else is saying or doing, not taking the time to correct themselves.
Never let anyone change you or stop you from doing you, it is your life, your mouth so do and say what ever you want, if they do not like it OH FREAKIN WELL

Perception is always a problem. If i feel that I have been offended, then I am offended, even if you didn't say anything that could be construed as offensive.
This is where conflicts arise from

And the question of the YEAR award goes to YOU!
It's hard enough to get your point across verbally to some people, multiply that by 1000 when it's all in text...

You speak (or type) the way you feel you need to express yourself. It doesn't matter how it affects other people because you are enforcing your right to individuality! Unfortunately, YA! has their stupid rules and they allow other people to report you for things they find offending! Total crap in my opinion, but it is just that....my opinion!!

Common courtesy, maybe? There are certain unspoken rules to which civilized people in a civilized society conform.

You shouldn't, go ahead and do what you will... and see your social circle vanish. It's said that great geniuses and total idiots live & die alone - but is there any difference, then? Ultimately, it's your choice of being excommunicated or making compromises.
