Most new authors will, unfortunately, be rejected on their first manuscript. All successful authors persevered and eventually found a publisher, sometimes years later.
Send some of your writing to an on-line group like Critters.org. You can send a few pages (5-10) to me via email if you want some honest feedback from a grizzled old author.

forget about it. Writers dream of getting their work published. Good writers write and write and change their work searching for what people want. Real Writers know that it doesnt matter if you get published or not, you arent writing for them. You're writing for you. If you like you're work, some one else will too, might take thousands of years though. If you dont like any of your work then stop writing because you cant make other people happy with out making yourself happy. Actually you can but its depressing and you dont want to be stuck in that. So my advice is just write. Dont worry about the rest. Oh and do have another carreer up your sleeve. Real writers also know that going hungry and homeless is no way to write

You should finish writing it and then try to get it published or work with someone to make it better.
