After reading the article, we do not know two things. . .one is that we don't know if she was put in a microwave oven and two, if she was, we do not know if it was the mother who did it. Everything in this case is speculative and circumstantial.
As far as "Excuses", one must realize that there is an excuse for everything. . .the only difference is if there is a viable one that can get some one out of jail or mental institution for such a crime. I tend to doubt it. First off, if it is proven that the baby was microwaved, then one has to prove who did it.
The idea that no skin was damaged strikes me as odd, since microwaves heat up fatty substances first and that fastest. If you ever nuked a chicken leg, the skin sizzles almost immediately. I do not imagine that a baby's skin is without fat.
Another possibility is when heating up the baby's formula, it should not be done in the microwave, as it heats it unevenly and even after it is removed, it is still COOKING. If this was fed to the infant while it continued to cook (nuke) the stomach lining, this can seem as though the baby was nuked but not show up on the skin. The defense lawyer has a much easier job with this case than the prosecutors. However, the article hinted at evidence that was not mentioned . . . but this could simply be a way to set the public up into making them believe the prosecutors have a good case.
I would not take this to court with only what I read. Remember, it's been a year. . .which tells me they been working really hard to find someone to state it was due to being microwaved. That says to me. . .some people said they can't be sure.

Wait a second. We don't know for sure she did. Perhaps a boyfriend or sitter did.
If she did, I don't know why or how anyone could do such an horrible thing. I see post-partum depression has already been mentioned, and we can expect to see that as a defense, if she in fact did such an heinous act.
Whoever did, I cannot imagine a punishment severe enough for such an act.
Perhaps we can find out the reason, and reduce the possibility of this sort of thing happening in the future.
I am so saddened when I hear of things like this.

i have not seen the item. yet yeah it really is ill. at the same time as they are not making microwaves sufficiently massive to organize dinner individual, deadly injection ought to do the trick. in spite of the indisputable fact that the item states the toddler became left with a toddler sitter....why isn't the sitter on trial? I said a piece of writing the position a lady decrease the palms off of her 10 month previous. the toddler later died, and the lady became clinically determined with a tumor, yet i imagine she ought to nonetheless get the juice.

I think she is a sick b!tch and she should be sterilized so she can't do it to another one.
I knew a gal that tried to kill her first daughter and the state took it away from her, she had a second one and murdered that baby while my son was asleep in the other room. He had a nervous breakdown from it. And do you know what happened to her?? Not a damn thing, cause her mom said she was mentally ill. So why wasn't she put in a psycho hospital instead of let run the streets?? My son still has nightmares about it.

There's no reason at all for her to give, if she was cracking up because she had too many kids, she should have called for help before reaching the point of insanity. I don't see how anyone could do that to any child let alone your own child. There is no excuse for it in my opinion!

not saying it's justified, but probably because she has some sort of mental condition. if not, then she's just cold-hearted! i don't know how anyone could stuff a human being into a microwave and push the start button!

For all you know it could have been the baby sitter that did it . and the mother took the child home thinking it was asleep.
Some times people only see what they would like to see...and they are sick too.

maybe she watched gremlins too many times . Or was doing a personal science project . OR she went crazy heard voices that told her GOD wanted her to send him back the baby via the microwave (A.K.A portal to heaven ) . OR MOST LIKELY I THINK SHE JUST ALWAYS WANTED TO NUKE A LIVING BEING AND HER BABY WAS NOT WANTED ANYWAY . ( sad but most likely true )
