Bob Rock is a horrible producer who saps bands of their personality and reshapes the remnants of talent into a bloody ghastly entity intended for the most mediocre of markets.

This statement is half true.
The first album they worked on(The Black Album) ended up being one of the best hard rock albums of the last 20 years, with probably 6 songs you can still hear on the radio today getting heavy play, but since then they've pretty much sucked. I don't know if it's Bob Rock or if it's just the fact that they got old, just like everybody does.

yeah well. his a good producer. maybe u dont like him couse he changed metallica from the old master of puppets style. but I like the new ones in another way. I think he did good at all( exept S.t anger which really sucked)

They started to suck when they started turning their fans into the feds for sharing songs through Napster.

The black album was the beginning of the end. After that they've just gotten worse and worse.

Maybe they haven't changed but you have. Maybe your taste in music is changing. I bet you are a closet country music listener.
