Routers shouldn't die after a month... I've had mine for a few years [it's belkin] perhaps it isn't the router but something else?

Are you sure you are not changing settings on it and making it less and less usable.
I help some people every once in a while to set their systems up and frequently I see they full around with the router's setup, usually you enter on it through the browser using a specific IP address, and if you don't really know what you're doing it could render the router either totally open to intruders from the net, or totally closed that even you can't browse the web.
Usually there is a reset to factory default which is the most reccomended setting.
Try that to see if it makes a difference before you dump another router.
Another frequent problem is that next to the router people have a cable or DSL modem, and maybe other stuff that are powered by a similar little transformer and people mix the cables of these different units thus powering the units with wrong voltages or sometimes the same voltage but different capacities which in time will damage the unit. Make sure everything is powered by its original transformer and that can be many times hard to find out since no many manufacturers don't put their names on these transformers so you can have a D-Link router with it's original transformer being a OEM whatever brand made in China. You have to mark them when new just out of the box to avoid mix. Very common.

WPN824 by Netgear. I've had 2 wireless routers from Netgear and never had a problem. I've had Netgear since they first came out with wireless so they are built to last
